About the PNWBE

Introduction

The Pacific Northwest Battle Entertainment (PNWBE) Draft League is a Pokemon Sword/Shield draft league designed to introduce players to competitive Pokemon, featuring weekly matches using a special tiered doubles rule set. Each team drafts 11 unique Pokemon to use throughout the entire season, but only 6 out of their 11 may be used from week to week.

The Draft

At the beginning of each season, each team drafts 11 Pokemon. In an effort to keep things balanced and fun, Pokemon are separated into tiers, Each team follows a specific draft structure to create their team:
  • 1 Gigantamax Pokemon
  • 1 Tier 1 Pokemon
  • 2 Tier 2 Pokemon
  • 2 Tier 3 Pokemon
  • 1 Tier 4 Pokemon
  • 4 Open Slots

Pokemon do not need to be drafted in any specific order so long as all team requirements mentioned above are met at the end of the 11th round. Teams are given 4 open slots to draft additional Pokemon from any tier as they see fit. Each tier is assigned a point value (Tier 1 = 100, Tier 2 = 75, Tier 3 = 50, Tier 4 = 25) and teams are allotted 250 points to spend on Pokemon from any tier (except Gigantamax), but must draft 4 Pokemon with their points.

Draft order will be determined by Play time, allowing the team with the least play time to select their draft number first (and the most play time last). Drafting is done in a wheel order, like so:
1 -> 2 -> 3 -> 4 -> 4 -> 3 -> 2 -> 1 -> 1 -> 2 -> 3 -> 4 -> etc.

Weekly Battles

Teams will select "Double Battle Series 5 Rules" when selecting the ruleset, Each match is played in a best-of-3 format. Players are responsible each week for coordinating their own matches.
